Would The Buddha have liked the Beatles?
We don’t know too much about the early life of Siddhārtha Gautama, the spiritual teacher from Northern India, who became known as The Buddha (or awakened one) about two-and-a-half thousand years ago. We do know he was an Indian prince who, given his wealth and status, we can guess was a bit of a party boy in his youth. Maybe the Beatles would have been his thing? Maybe not?
Which brings me onto the Beatles. An odd juxtaposition with The Buddha you may think.
But I’ve been thinking of late, that those of us alive during the latter half of the 20th century and early 21st century are living through and experiencing some extraordinary times for humankind. TV, movies, world music, global travel, internet, world wars, worldwide corporatism, global politics etc., etc. Relatively speaking, we have experienced and are experiencing more change and stimulus than most peoples before us would ever have had the chance to over dozens of generations.
